Erica Ives, MFT, CEDS


Erica Ives has been practicing as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT# 34566) for over fifteen years and specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, (CEDS-Certified Eating Disorder Specialist) and women’s issues. She received her Master’s degree inClinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in 1994 and went on to obtain her MFT license in 1997.  Erica demonstrates a passionate devotion to this significant field of healing. Her work as a therapist began with the treatment of adolescents who suffered from depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, and other self-injurious behaviors. Erica sought out extensive training in the area of trauma and its correlation with the development of eating disorders and various other addictions. Her many years of training continued along this path and developed into the specialty of eating disorders, women’s issues, and addiction, all of which are very closely connected. She has consistently been in private practice where she provides individual, couple, family, and group therapy, while simultaneously working closely with other professionals and clients in a multiple array of environments. In addition, Erica also trains and supervises therapists working towards licensure as a CAMFT Certified Clinical Supervisor. She has educated communities on prevention and treatment of addiction and eating disorders and continues her work as a published author. Erica has written a book on eating disorders which is set to release in March 2013- Eating Disorders: Decode the Controlled Chaos 

In her own recovery, and as someone who has watched loved ones battle with an eating disorder, Erica has had personal experience overcoming many of the same struggles that brings one to seek therapy. She passionately believes in life with freedom from all types of addictions and eating disorders. Erica views recovery as being unique to each and every individual and understands the vulnerability shared throughout the therapy experience. She values and creates a safe, nurturing, and empathic environment for one to successfully begin their journey of recovery. Erica teaches the tools for one to achieve a life filled with balance, awareness, and well-being to live on a mindful path of recovery.
